I really enjoy "The Diving Board" by Elton John. The title song is the perfect song to relax to after a long hard day. This is the first song dedicated to the graceful sport of diving. I admire Elton for including a song about my favorite sport on his album. This song makes me wonder what thoughts go through the mind of a diver just before they perform a dive. My other favorite song is "Oceans Away". This song reminds me that there is always something to learn from my elders. "Home Again" is the other highlight on this album. This is a song about trying to get back home after spending a life time of exploring the world. This is a beautiful song lyrically and melodically. "Take This Dirty Water" is a song that puts me in a good mood. This song is so uplifting. This song is a reminder that I should strive to keep all aspects of my life clean and pure. I also love the song entitled "Can't Stay Alone Tonight". It is a rather pleasant song about feeling that time is not on my song. I really like the lyrics of this song because I often feel lonesome. I am hopeful that things will turn around for me though. The song" entitled "Mexican Vacation" (Kids In The Candlelight) has a delightful bluesy tone to it. This song captures Elton's joy of being a father and raising children. "Oscar Wilde Gets Out" is an interesting song. This song motivates me to learn more about the life and writing career of Oscar Wilde. I thank Elton John for raising my literary curiosity with this song. "The New Fever Waltz" is a gorgeous song. I can actually picture myself dancing the waltz with a special woman to this song. Elton includes three instrumental piano pieces entitled Dream. The first two dream instrumentals are soothing. The last dream is so lively. This short 97 second piece inspires me to make the most of each day that I am given. "The Diving Board" proves that Elton John is still a great singer and piano player.
