All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to....

"Say it fast"... I had to actually say it out loud a few times before I got the joke behind the title to Brit Brit's 3rd single from Circus. Brilliantly crude. I loved the word play and how it fit with Britney's good girl/bad girl image. Unfortuantely, the lyrics just didn't live up to the concept.
This song, I assumed, would focus on seeking out a girl named Amy and sneak in the "spelled-out-joke" in a way that would fool parents into thinking they were just hearing things. She begins promisingly enough- "Oh baby baby have you seen Amy tonight?". The verses play out as expected with the "where's Amy, what's she doing" stuff leading us through a pretty basic story. The chorus, though, falls short. Suddenly Britney's just saying a big F You to the nay-sayers. "Love me, hate me, say what you want about me; All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy" simply doesn't make sense. It becomes painfully obvious that Britney just really needs to let out her frustrations in a child-custody-battle-friendly way.
But don't get me wrong- it's got a good beat and you can dance to it, so I love the stupid thing. It's just disappointing that this idea was taken by someone who didn't know what to do with it. It could have been outstanding and instead it's just another bunch of lyrics we try not to think too much about while shaking it on the dancefloor.
