This is the debut album for the Dutch death metal titans, Pestilence. While this band is famed in the death metal underground for being among the best and most creative in the late 80's/early 90's death metal scene, "Malleus Malleficarum" is actually a thrash metal album with plenty of death metal influences...and what a kickass album it is!! This album may have been made by Dutch musicians, but it can easily compete with Germany's most ferocious thrash albums.
This album is overflowing with lethal thrash tunes that show these extremely talented Dutchmen can perfectly balance agression and dynamics, creating memorable songs that don't skimp on the "heavy metal spirit" at all.
Some of my favorite tunes are "Malleus Malleficarum/Antropomorphia," "Extreme Unction," "Commandments," "Chemotherapy," "Bacterial Surgery," "Osculum Infame" (this is only an interlude track, but it sounds amazing), and "Systematic Instruction."
Here's some tunes off the album so you folks can easily get acquainted with this awesome record.
If you're craving some intense yet well-written thrash metal with some strong death metal influences, then you must do your ears a favor and get your paws on this ASAP.
