This 18-track CD was issued by the Metropolitan Opera in 2000 and is a tuneful mixture of 20th Century singers from Beniamino Gigli to Roberto Alagna. The songs range from the traditional `Adeste Fideles' to Irving Berlin's `White Christmas.' The CD insert narrates the history of each song and lists the singer, chorus, and orchestral accompaniment for each track. This is always one of the first CDs I play to put me in the mood for decorating the tree, making cookies and all of those other traditional Christmas chores. A complete list of tracks is as follows:
1. Adam: Cantique de Noël - Roberto Alagna 2. Angels We Have Heard on High--Benita Valente 3. I Wonder as I Wander--Leontyne Price 4. Herbeck: Pueri Concinite--Plácido Domingo 5. Bizet: Agnus Dei--Risë Stevens 6. Handel: He Shall Feed His Flock--Brigitte Fassbaender, Lucia Popp 7. Joy to the World--Barbara Hendricks 8. Schubert: Ave Maria--Erna Berger 9. Brahms: Geistliches Wiegenlied--Christa Ludwig 10. Mascagni: Ave Maria--John McCormack 11. Franck: Panis Angelicus--Franco Corelli 12. White Christmas--Kiri Te Kanawa, Roberto Alagna, Thomas Hampson 17. The First Nowell--Elizabeth Schwarzkopf 18. Silent Night--Marion Anderson
