As part of the Amazon Vine review program, I selected a pair of Lift Audio Icon Series 6 mm Premium Earphones for review. I had two purposes for this... I have an iPad now, and I thought a decent set of earphones would be nice. And second, with my kids around, I never HAVE any earphones that seem to stay in one place for very long. So why not kill two birds with one stone?

Fair warning says I'm not an audiophile of any sort. I don't listen to a lot of music, so most of my usage would be watching videos or not disturbing someone around me with sound. What I *did* want is something that was comfortable, stayed put in my ear, was loud enough to hear, and if it could drown out a bit of noise in the process, so much the better. And this item delivered well on all counts. My first chance to use them was on a flight back from a conference, and I happened to be in the fussy-baby part of the plane. I pulled out the headphones (really nice hard case they come in, too!) and stuffed the earphones in my ears. Even without any audio coming out, the babies sounded like they moved to the back of the plane. And once I fired up a movie, it was even better. No babies, no crying... just me and the movie.
Of course, I found out within 10 minutes that it's not good to be watching certain scenes of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo on the iPad when you're sitting in the aisle seat with people moving past you... Just sayin...
I don't know that I would rate these as a great deal at their $79 list price. They're nice, but they're not THAT nice. But at the Amazon price of $25, they are perfect for what I needed. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another pair if needed. But I'll be making sure I hide these, so another purchase will *not* be needed...

You really have to be out on the Vine page for the newsletter, clicking F5 to refresh the screen right at the top of the hour (noon PT, 3 pm ET). Then when the page refreshes, scroll down to the bottom of the page quickly, as that's where the electronics are. On the first newsletter of the month, you'll only have one page worth. Just scrolling to the bottom of the screen is sufficient. On the second "clean-up" offering, you have to go to the bottom, click on the last page link, and then work your way backwards. My two rules are... never wait for the newsletter (go directly to the site), and don't think about whether you might like something or not... make your decision quickly, and act.

Thanks! I have tried, believe me, to be quick on the draw, but work interferes with pleasure, and I always wondered if ET has some time advantage over PT! I do note that the newsletter takes longer to show up in the e-mail inbox, as you know.

I don't think ET has advantages, as I'm in Portland Oregon. :) And yes, I will admit that I have a standing appointment on my work calendar to get onto the Vine site 10 minutes before the top of the hour. :)

Helpful review. I have some Altec Lansing IEMs that "sound" like these you tried, similar despite far lower prices to my old Ultimate Ears; I think that UE went out of the low-priced business? BTW, as another Vine reviewer, I never get any electronic (or software or computer) gear even if I log on minutes after the new list appears monthly. It's all gone. How many samples are there, anyhow? I cannot figure out the secret of how to snag samples; books last for weeks up on Vine often, but as for other items...no luck ever.

Let me preface this review by stating that I am not in any capacity an electronics expert. I know what I like and what I don't, and that's about as far as it goes. Having said that, the same goes for these headphones. I was pleasantly surprised by the little carrier they came with, though it certainly makes it easier if you wind them up first...stuffing them in doesn't really work very well. I'm sold on this item, I'm also sold on the idea that small is big when it comes to audio. I'm a Bose booster. That being said, I'm also a late adapter of most technology. For instance, this is my first experience with earphones. I've been using headsets for years and found them to be adequate, but a pain in terms of size. I'll start this review by disclosing that I'm no expert when it comes to electronics. I've been using the earphones that came with my iPod until receiving the Lift Audio Icon Series 6 mm Premium Earphones (Black) from the Amazon Vine program. Lift Audio Icon's Series 6 mm Premium Earphones have excellent sound quality. Bass is very rich for in-ear earphones and even for many standard headsets as well. Treble is a bit canned, but not so bad that it's irritating or comes across as "tinny" in nature. I listened to a number of musical genres with these earbuds including heavy metal (Megadeth, Ozzy Osbourne), hard rock (KISS), pop (Ke$ha, Katy Perry), and I even broke out a little country (George Strait).
