Another Excellent David Gurney Tale!

David Gurney is back and I loved it. My favorite riddle solver is asked to help a young woman (Kim) by evaluating a tv project she is working on. She is doing a series of interviews of families, whose loved ones were killed by a serial killer called "The Good Shepherd." The Shepherd had never been caught. Since she started the project, weird things have been happening at her apartment. Kim claims that it is her ex-boyfriend, who helped her on her project and then seemed to turn on her.

The more Gurney gets involved, he starts to think that the original investigation of the Shepherd case was flawed. Much to the chagrin of his wife Madeline, he starts re-examining evidence using his pal Jack Hardwick. As Gurney gets more involved, he starts to tick off the original FBI Agents involved in the case. Additionally, bad things start happening to Gurney, Kim and those that Kim interviewed. The more Gurney gets challenged, the more determined he is to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Verdon does it again by keeping the reader hooked from the beginning and guessing along with Gurney as to what the truth is. The only thing I didn't care for is how the FBI Agents are portrayed as incompetent and "all knowing," not willing to listen to any ideas that are not their own. I do not think that this is reality but hey, it doesn't detract from the five star rating I gave this one!
