Pros: fun for the whole family! Great Special Effects! Air Conditioning!
Cons: Long Lines, Little Kids beware
Next weekend, my best friend (Dionne25) and I are heading down to Orlando. Since my father is a Disney Employee, I get in for free. I have been to Disney on many occasions, and the Haunted Mansion remains one of my favorite rides there.
The lines for the Haunted Mansion are usually long, but the 20 minute ride is definitely worth the wait. The attraction is housed in an old Victorian mansion at the end of Liberty Square. During your wait, you can read tombstones with funny epitaphs. ("Here lies good old cousin Fred. He met a bear, and now he's dead.") They're cheesy, but they help pass the time. And, unlike other rides, a good deal of the line is in the shade from the hot Orlando sun.
Then you get inside. You're greeted by an eerie host, then ushered into a large elevator. Be sure to look at the paintings in the wall when you get in there!!! And, when the lights go out, be sure to look up... you're in for a spooky surprise.
Once you get to the bottom you, that's right, get into another line. Once you zigzag through the line, you get to sit in this little, black Tilt-A-Whirl looking thing. You're comfortable with two-- three adults is pushing it.
Your ride through the Haunted Mansion is "hosted" by one of their residents, proclaiming that there are 999 souls in the mansion and they have room for one more. You see ghosts living it up (pardon the pun) in a grand ballroom, a fortune teller hosting a seance from inside a crystal ball, and so many more spirits in different scenarios.
My favorite part is when you pass three hitch-hiking ghosts, and you're warned by your host not to pick any up. Then, you pass a mirror and see that a ghost has indeed hitched a ride with you!
It's a long ride, but it goes by rather quickly. You're entertained the entire time, and in air conditioning! This is definitely a must-see when you visit Disney.

For example, the current "soft opening" and soon official unveiling of the optional interactive queue option outside the Haunted Mansion. In addition, the enhanced animatronic Hitchhiking Ghosts Animatronics return at WDW. Doombuggie … more
The Haunted Mansion has become one of our familiies must do's at The Magic Kingdom. For someone who actually does not like haunted houses, I can honestly say - I love this ride. I love the Gotchic architecture of the house and appreciate how authentic it is. The "Grim Grinning Ghosts" theme song, which was written by a former Disney imagineer, entertains you as you make your way through the mansion. The dining room scene is fabulous and we always spot … more

Foolish mortals. Enter an 18th century mansion and encounter 999 grim grinning ghosts on a not-so-scary ride that includes a zillion classic details. The ceiling. Is it moving up? The eerie Madame Leota. The incredible phantoms of the ballroom. And those hitch-hiking ghosts. Hurry ba-aaack.
