While I admit nostalgia may colour my perception of this game, to me this is one of the best platformers ever released, while nowadays it might be a bit easy for some gamers, the music, the artstyle, the 'wacky' level design, it all came together to form one amazing experience. Platformer fans owe themselves to try this game, or any of the previous titles. A shame the franchise went downhill … more

Ah...the Sony PlayStation! One of the few things my dad actually did for me was introduce me to this console growing up. I have been playing video games since I could ever walk and talk. I have always been a Nintendo kid before, my first console was a NES. Atari was before my time so the only Atari I knew was at the arcade. After a while I got my SNES. When it was time for the N64 to come out, I already … more
21-12-12. Merely weeks until the end of the Earth. The only soul that could possibly bring salvation is assassin Desmond Miles. This game. Just by the title screen and menus, you know this is going to be a epic conclusion. This game blows my mind in every way possible....almost. Now don't let my "almost" fool you, this game is FANTASTIC! I will get to my only complaint later. … more

Reading a lot of these negative reviews has made me pretty irritated, to say the least. The way people have been trashing this game is almost like they just played Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing (considered by many to be possibly the worst videogame ever). True, there are some things missing from Duke Nukem 3D that should have been in Duke Nukem Forever, but it still has a lot of good things as well, … more

I wasn't too fond of the original Tomb Raider, but I was still heavily interested in this sequel when it was first released. This was a huge improvement as it not only expanded on the world, but it focused a little more on the action and it had a better story. Tomb Raider II is by far my favorite of the original series.
During the mid 90's Capcom was dodging an actual SF sequel like crazy, and just kept basically putting out the same game. Street Fighter lost my interest until the Alpha series, in which, this game was originally billed as the prequel to Street Fighter II. Street Fighter Alpha was a major improvement as it took the Super Specials from Super SF II Turbo, and got a lot … more

Madpenguin posted a Quick Tip about Tekken 2.
February 02, 2012
This was my introduction to Tekken, and I was very skeptical of a game with no projectile wielding characters. After a few days of play those worries were long gone. It was awesome playing a fighting game that focused more on the actual fighting through various styles; from the wrestling used by King to Nina Williams Akido. The incredible soundtrack was a huge plus.

Madpenguin posted a Quick Tip about Metal Gear Solid.
February 02, 2012
Metal Gear Solid was one of those rare games to completely blow my mind. The opening act unfolds just like a movie and I remember how awesome I thought that was. The story is very good and the game features some of the coolest boss battles in gaming, such as the sniper battle with Sniper Wolf. This is another game I wish I could play again for the first time.

Madpenguin posted a Quick Tip about Resident Evil.
February 02, 2012
An instant classic. Resident Evil brought the horror to video games and this is one game I really wish I could play again for the first time. There were several of memorable moments; such as the first encounter with the zombie. And who can forget that cut scene featuring the first appearance of the vicious hunters? Classic material here and the remake was even better.

Madpenguin posted a Quick Tip about Spider-Man (PSone).
February 02, 2012
This was the definitive Spider-Man game that truly had you believeing that you were the wall-crawler; with a nice world to swing around and epic battles against his rogues gallery. The developers were clearly fans of the Spider-Man Universe as they accurately captured the personalitties of the characters. The battles with Mystery, Doctor Octopus, Venom etc, had the feel of the comic. The … more
A very solid follow up that lightly improves on the original. Being able to switch between Joe and Silvia was a nice addition, and Silvia is clearly the better of the two with some really cool moves that differs from Joe. The puzzles here are actually tougher than in the original, and the boss battles are still intense. Not as great as the first game, but very good anyway.

Madpenguin posted a Quick Tip about Resident Evil 2.
February 02, 2012
Capcom out did themselves with this sequel. It was a fantastic idea to use two different characters to tell two alternate stories, and the tales would have different turns. The replay with this game is through the roof. Resident Evil 2 is no doubt one of the better games in the franchise. Some still consider it the best.
The pinnacle in the Castlevania series and a masterpiece in gaming; from the beautiful well orchestrated soundtrack, to the amazing visuals, stage designs, story, plot, game play, boss encounters. This is a gaming classic that belongs in every serious gamers collection.
