Good Game but I felt I Played it Before

God of War series has been one of the most epic and cinematic games in the last few years, and God of War 3 is no exception. The game picks up right after God of War 2, the game starts off with a bang, you see Kratos climbing Mt Olympus with the Titans and the Gods of Olympus are not standing idle and are not taking the invasion lying down!

The first thing you'll notice is the game is gorgeous, and the first couple of hours of God of War 3 has some of the most jaw dropping set pieces ever created, the scales in God of War games were always spectacular, and God of War III took it to a new height, you would be fighting with, against and on top of giant enemies that are so huge, their finger nail is bigger than Kratos. However, after the the awesome beginning, the game settled down to the tried and true God of War game play, not that it's a bad thing, the game is silky smooth, the control responsive and the actions brutal, but I played through God of War I and II just before the game came out (to get up to speed on the story), and there just aren't enough changes in the third game to make it stand out from the first two, even though it received a new coat of (very pretty) paint, but underneath it's pretty much the same game. There are some minor tweaks to the game mechanics, but it's still not enough. However, if this is your first entry into the series, you'll definitely have a lot of fun, just don't expect the game to live up to the first few levels of awesomeness throughout the game!

If you are a newbie to the series, consider picking up the God of War Collection (also on Playstation 3), it has the first 2 games with cleaned up and higher resolution graphics, even though they still don't look anywhere as good as God of War III, but I felt the story and the actions are just as good, and if not better, especially God of War II, I felt is the pinnacle of the series.

God of War III is certainly a great game even with some of my complaints, it is a must have for fans of the series, as it concludes the trilogy and wraps up the story arc, but I still feel that the game could have been much more.

Yeah, much as I liked the first one and the 2nd one wasn't bad, it can get repetitive. Nice review!
