Are the Conservatives losing their grip on the control of the Republican Party?

If you think they're LOSING control, you must be gone. The Neoconservatives have taken complete control of the Republicans, and they've turned the party of some of our greatest Presidents - Lincoln, the first Roosevelt - into a circus revolving around which candidate can exclude more people. It seems to have really kicked into high gear since George W. Bush.

Conservative grip on the Republicans is GONE. Fortunately, real conservatives who still believe in the values of community building, low taxes, individual liberty, free trade, a balanced budget, and a non-interventional foreign policy apear to be finding a new refuge in the waiting arms of the Libertarian party.

Like so many political questions, this one requires a precise definition of the term. If you are referring to the old-style conservatives like Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan, then the answer is yes. If you are referring to the extreme far right then they are the ones that are tightening their grip on the party. The current crop drop the name "Ronald Reagan" all the time, but they do not have a solid idea on what he stood for. If you study what Barry Goldwater said, it is clear that he would have been contemptuous of most of the far right Republicans of today.

Conservatives meaning, Tea Party Conservatives or Far Right Conservatives or Family Value Christian Conservatives? There's a lot to choose from for the Republicans. I think that the only thing keeping Mitt Romney from successfully taking a huge lead in the party is that he's Mormon. And God forbid there's a Mormon in the White House, they had once said that about Catholics though until JFK. So, if you're talking about the Christian Conservatives, no, I don't think so. Then, again, there are those ABO (Anything But Obama) "Conservatives" to consider and of course, they have the strongest grip on the future of the Republicans.
