Give us liberty is an excellent introduction to the tea party movement for people who are unfamiliar with it.
Dick Armey and Matt Kibbe give look at the stories of regular people who decided that enough was enough and took a stand to make a difference. He tells of the failure of both the republicans to keep their previous promises of fiscal responsibility and of democrats totally unable to cope with what has become a national grass roots movement.
It tells how the movement built slowing outside of the beltway where the media dismissed, disparaged and then finally looked on in disbelief as the Tea Party became a force against the business as usual habits of establishment politics.
The story builds from event to event culminating in the highly successful 9/12 march of 2009.
The Appendix is of some interest, Almost a third of the size of the book proper it is basically a how to guide to activism that would be of great value to people of both the right and the left.
If you want a quick primer to figure out where exactly the tea party movement has come from. This is it.
