Lincoln Chaffee is a moderate Republican in the mold of the almost extinct wing of the Republican party. He is a very intelligent man and has kept his principals as the rest of the Republicans (John McCain) have moved farther to the right in response to groups such as the tea party. Well Rhode Island has just elected it's first "Independent" governor with all of 36% of the vote. This was a four man race. Mr. Chafee had 35% of the vote when he announced nearly a year ago and his percentage hardly budged all year long. Sad to say that this man is in the hip pocket of the teachers and state employee unions who were largely responsible for electing him.
