If its medical isnt it legal?

The use of marijuana for medical purposes seems highly ethical. If the notion is that medicine when prescribed is for the benefit of the user then it would seem highly plausible that it should be supported by all. Speaking from personal experience my mother was dealing with a medical illness and her doctor recommend the use of marijuana, at the time such actions were not legal in the state of New York...they are still not. Oddly my mother also had strong feelings against the use of marijuana and so she made it into a tea rather than smoking the product.

Cannabis sativa has been used for years, a form of cannabis not used as the traditional cannabis plant, as tea, rubs, and other common products. If something with so many uses can help more than cause harm I do beleive further study should occur to ensure the larger population may not be missing out a natural product of vast importance.

The use of medical marijuana is slowly growing in popularity and may even undercut the need for mass production of the illegal form.

If you think about it many of our medicines already come from plants, so I am sometimes surprised that marijuana is viewed so negatively for use as a medicine. I think California has done a good job at bringing out the positive uses for medical marijuana and I hope …

What did man do before the advent of synthetic medicine? He used the plants, trees, the powder from rocks and gems, animals and all other kinds of things modern man has since forgot to heal himself.     if nature isn't the answer, what is?

People already abuse marijuana illegally, so what should stop the government from unilaterally allowing the legal use of marijuana?  The only crime the use of marijuana should be considered is the abuse.  Alcohol was illegal for a brief time in American history (Prohibition), but now there's a legal drinking age for it, and the use of alcohol is only a crime when there's abuse involved, such as driving while intoxicated, drinking in public (to prevent indecent exposure, and other …

About this topic

Wiki

Medical cannabis refers to the use of the Cannabis plant as a physician-recommended herbal therapy as well as synthetic THC and cannabinoids. So far, the medical use of cannabis is legal only in a limited number of territories, including Canada, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Spain, Israel, Finland, and some U.S. states. This usage generally requires a prescription, and distribution is usually done within a framework defined by local laws.

There are many studies regarding the use of cannabis in a medicinal context.
