When I was a young child I was not that into the Beatles until 1969 or so when they visited San Francisco -- which I missed, being so young -- I love 3,15,21,24,25,28,32 and 34 even though they're all great tunes. Yes, I was a Paul McCartney & Wings fan too.

By the way, last year or so I saw an original Beatles white album at a record store -- yes they still have them in my old neighborhood -- going for $100!
As I recall it, The Beatles stopped touring in 1966--although george Harrison dropped in and visited San Francisco in '68. If you want a really expensive album try finding an original copy of the butcher/babies!

yes, 1966, that's right. I was only 10 and could not go. :( Yes, that would be a great album.

I had a ticket to the concert in Jacksonville in '65 but a hurricane passed through between us and them and we wound up calling off the trip. Boy was I pissed. I could have taken the train along with a group sponsored by a local radio station but I thought it would be cooler to stay overnight and that ultimately screwed us.

Ouch! Yea, I was way too young. And then when Paul McCartney played at Candlestick, I think it was in 2010 or 2009, the $100 tickets for the cheap seats scared me off.

In my local area there are several vinyl record shops with these old records now. They tell me vinyl pressings are still done by modern rockers today, but in small batches compared to CDs. Even CDs are on shaky ground now with MP3 players and such.

I can't even relate to that. I only paid $15 for the 3 day weekend of the Atlanta rock festival which featured almost all of the same groups that appeared at Woodstock.

I hear you! All major concerts around here are quite expensive. We have a rock event in Golden Gate Park every year and that's the only inexpensive (cheap) one we have. We had Joan Baez last year! Too bad I missed it.

The tickets for the Beatles concert I missed cost $3.
Paul annoys me frankly. I really can't imagine how he and John stood each other since their ideologies and personalities are so different.
QUEENBFLIXJanuary 05, 2011
Everyone says the wrong two Beatles died. They started out with more in common and grew apart like people do. Who knows, as John became more of a romantic they may have grown a bit closer again.
Count_Orlok_22January 05, 2011
I don't know. Paul grew more commercial and more conservative over time as John went the opposite direction.
QUEENBFLIXJanuary 05, 2011
"Double Fantasy" was a very commercial album full of "silly love songs".
Count_Orlok_22January 05, 2011
I'm not a big fan of that album either. I prefer "John Lennon & Plastic Ono Band", "Imagine", and "Some Time in New York City". You know, the earlier more political stuff.
QUEENBFLIXJanuary 05, 2011
Yeah, but that last album is what I meant about how he was changing and how they might have possibly been able to grow back together--John was mellowing out.
Count_Orlok_22January 05, 2011
Maybe mellowing out musically, but not philosophically or politically. Remember, that album came out after Nixon was gone and Vietnam was over. Had he lived to see the Reagan era, I think we would have seen that fiery activist spirit come out again. Damn, I wish he had.
wow!! great compilation you have here, Karen. You know I can't remember # 35.... :(

It's really the same song as #34--"So this is Christmas/ and what have you done/Another year over/A new one begun/ And so this is Christmas/I hope you have fun/The near and the dear ones/The old and the young/A very merry Christmas/And a happy New Year/Let's hope it's a good one/Without any fear.
I am the poster child for inertia. Where ever I am is where I plan to stay FOREVER. So much so in fact that it took me decades to understand the punchline about why the chicken … more
