If I Could Travel the World, I'd Like to See...

Pompeii, Italy
It's always fascinated me. Where else could you see a moment in history almost frozen in time, except maybe in nearby Herculaneum.
Claiborne Farm
One of the premiere horse farms, Claiborne is also the resting spot of the great Secretariat, one of the few race horses to be given a full body burial. I could have gone all my life without knowing how the rest of those horses are buried. Big Red was euthanized the year before I planned to visit the farm, but I refuse to think that it was part of a plot.
Machu Picchu
Why would anyone not want to visit the Incan city in the clouds? It actually has become a popular tourist destination. A friend of mine went a couple of years ago.
Kyoto, Japan
They say it's one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I'd love to be there when the cherry blossoms are in bloom.
Florence's famous art gallery intrigues me more than the Louvre, plus it has the advantage of not being in Paris.
Forbidden City
Ever since I saw THE LAST EMPEROR I've wondered...

What did you think of this list?

Very, very nice. I meant to put Machu Picchu on mine, but I forgot to. You may have inspired me enough for me to do a second list. : )

It must have escaped my mind. I love ancient South American achitecture.

I can't believe that it's such a common tourist destination now. Somehow that doesn't seem right. I can't help thinking it should be incredibly difficult to get to so that it doesn't attract just ANYBODY, if you know what I mean.

Same with Poenari. People had even died trying to ascend the hill to get to it, yet it remains a popular tourist attraction and historical site. Luckily, there are stairs now.

Way to easy to get to Machu Picchu now. Janis told me all about it. Most of the trip was by train.

I am the poster child for inertia. Where ever I am is where I plan to stay FOREVER.   So much so in fact that it took me decades to understand the punchline about why   the chicken … more
