As I look back over my list (which as usual is NOT in order of preference) I notice that it's heavily weighted in favor of horror flix although I had intended to keep it more balanced. To that I can only say, oh well.
BEDAZZLED has long been one of my favorite films and Peter Cook brings something very special to the role of Satan who will stop at nothing to trick Stanley Moon (Dudley Moore) out of his soul.
One of Judy Holliday's most famous roles is BELLS ARE RINGING which she originated on Broadway. She's part of a telephone answering service called Susanserphone and she just can't mind her own business. Before you know she's solving everyone's problems but her own.
In LUNATICS; A LOVE STORY Ted Raimi is a nut job whose agoraphobia is the least of his problems. Can he overcome his many mental problems and find true love with a chick who's just as wacked out? Raimi really proved that he could carry a movie here, and Hank is a lovable schiz if there ever was one.
I can only hope that life was as witty and entertaining around the old castle as it was with Katherine Hepburn around in THE LION IN WINTER. She and Henry the II were always sniping at each other over whose little piggy would rule the sty when mommy and daddy croaked.
MATINEE is the film, and in it John Goodman does a bang up job as a producer/director who can only be compared to William Castle. He's premiering his new flick MANT ("half man, half ant") in Key West at the height of the Cuban Missle Crisis. Goodman was born to play the role.
CAST A DEADLY SPELL is another flick that I keep pushing, and Fred Ward is one of the main reasons. He's perfect for the role of Phil Lovecraft, a hardboiled, film-noir type of private eye who's seen it all--until that old Hollywood magic kicks into overdrive.
In OM SHANTI OM Shah Rukh Khan is a bit actor in love with a big star. He dies trying to save her and is reincarnated 30 years later as a big star himself--with the chance to avenge their murders. He's almost precious as the conceited playboy. And he has a great disco number that's the best thing I've ever seen him do!
Lance Henriksen is totally believeable as the loving father who does something horrible when his son is acidentally killed --unfortunately he can't take back the revenge that he's set in motion. He makes PUMPKINHEAD the great flick it is.
Who could ever forget Christopher Walken as the Archangel with a major grudge against the human race in THE PROPHECY? You don't need a dump truck full of crappy special effects when you have a script like that an actor like this. I ought to include Viggo Mortenson for his cameo as Satan--he really made my blod run cold!
Martin Kosleck has always been my favorite unsung character actor, wether he was inhabiting the role of Joseph Goebbels (he played him several times) or the "mad" artist in HOUSE OF HORRORS, he always had my attention. In the latter film he's about to commit suicide when sees Rondo Hatton's body in the river and pulls him out. A face only a mad artist could love!
Even Michael Moriarty knows that his role as the twitchy small time crook in Q; THE WINGED SERPENT was one of his best performances. You gotta admire an actor who not only recognizes that, but isn't ashamed to admit it.
Hillary Wolf plays a smart girl living in one of the most grotesquely over-extended families ever committed to film. You'll love her attempts to survive them as much as I did in BIG GIRLS DON'T CRY...THEY GET EVEN.
Stephen Geoffreys is the nerdy freak who everyone picks on in school--the performance is classic. And FRIGHT NIGHT is the only flick to get 2 characters on my list.
Robert Hays went through AIRPLANE! and came out a star who went nowhere. But I love Ted Striker anyhow, if only for that great disco scene in the tought waterfront bar!
I always like the sidekicks, and Griffin Dunne in AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON was one of best friends a guy could ask for--he didn't even let the fact that he was dead and rapidly decaying keep him from trying to help out his buddy!
No one, and I do mean NO ONE, has ever been scarier than Michael Rooker was in HENRY PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER. Oh sure, there have been bigger hams but Rooker brought an incredible sense of realism to the role.
Excellent list Queen, Ash of course is the man, Ed Harley, Jesse Hooker, and of course one of the best performances ever in Billy Zane's Collector. EXCELLENT list.

I'd forgotten about this list already. I LOVE it! These are all great characters.
1 & 9 I also really love. The others are good, but I'm not crazy about them all.
QUEENBFLIXApril 06, 2010
You've seen BIG GIRLS DON'T CRY...?
Count_Orlok_22April 06, 2010
No. 1 and 9 are from "Evil Dead" and "Pumpkinhead".
QUEENBFLIXApril 06, 2010
I know, but you indicated that yoou were familiar with all the others.
Count_Orlok_22April 06, 2010
No, I'm not familiar with all of the others. I'm familiar with 1, 2, 3, 5, 9, 10, 11, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25.
QUEENBFLIXApril 07, 2010
ow. Hardly any of them. You just know a little over half.
Count_Orlok_22April 07, 2010
15 out of 25 isn't bad.
QUEENBFLIXApril 08, 2010
But #5 is an Oscar winner that really DESERVED it!
Count_Orlok_22April 08, 2010
I said #5.
QUEENBFLIXApril 08, 2010
Oops. Read it backwards. Thought those were the ones you weren't familiar with. But you say you're familiar 17 which is Peter Vincent and not 18 which is Evil Ed from the same movie.
Count_Orlok_22April 08, 2010
Oops. That was my bad. Both of them obviously.
QUEENBFLIXApril 08, 2010
Gotcha.
Count_Orlok_22April 09, 2010
I thought I got me, you just pointed it out.
QUEENBFLIXApril 09, 2010
Picky, picky. I can see you're going to be contentious again today. =)
Count_Orlok_22April 09, 2010
Nope, not at all. Why were you hoping I was in the mood to argue?
QUEENBFLIXApril 09, 2010
You usually are. By the way, are you gonna read that review or am I gonna have to beg?
Count_Orlok_22April 09, 2010
I did read it, I just haven't commented on it yet. Give me time. My computer's running very slowly. : )
QUEENBFLIXApril 09, 2010
Mine is too. But only on Lunch.
Count_Orlok_22April 09, 2010
Mine is having problems in general. I keep getting pop-ups despite the blocker being on high security, and I keep getting phishing scams. Plus, for some reason I can't open my e-mail. I can go to it and see if I have new messages, but this computer won't allow me to open them. It's really irritating since the other computers here work fine, but this is the only one that I can access my saved reviews on. I keep having to switch back and forth!
QUEENBFLIXApril 09, 2010
What a pain. I was having a somewhat similar problem a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't get at my email for about 4 days.
I am the poster child for inertia. Where ever I am is where I plan to stay FOREVER. So much so in fact that it took me decades to understand the punchline about why the chicken … more
