I occasionally amuse myself by reading science fiction of the 1950's to contrast the science to what is now known about the planets. It is a way to see how science has advanced. Does anyone else do this?

I occasionally amuse myself by reading science fiction of the 1950's to contrast the science to what is now known about the planets. It is a way to see how science has advanced. Does anyone else do this?

I liked Phillip Wylies books: When Worlds Collide and After Worlds Collide along with anything by Asimov (The Foundation trilogy and his robot novels). The human drama in these is what made them so good, even if the Science was so primative compared to what we know today.

The Foundation books discussed miniaturization of technology -- because the Second Foundation did not have the minerals, but it is still pretty prophetic.
