Looking for some new topping ideas for making pizza at home. I like to contrast flavors on my pizzas like fig and prosciutto (salty and sweet) or pinapple and jalapeno (spicy and sweet). Help me out with some topping combinations.

A big hit in our house is an Avocado and Apple Smoked Bacon Pizza, so good! You could add even more contrast to the flavors by adding some favorite fresh herbs. Just keep in mind, the bacon makes it rather salty, I omit olives because then it tastes over salted. I would also use a less salty, sweeter cheese, I only had raw cheddar on hand - a bit too much salt.

Thanks EcoMama (BTW one of my favorite names on the site). Do you cook the avo or add it afterwards? Great point on the cheese and olives, commonly overlooked by novice pizza makers :>)

You're welcome, and thank you! I actually am a novice, haha :) I make pizza perhaps twice a month. But at least I make it, I don't like someone to make it for me - just doesn't taste the same (with the exception of one place that makes organic pizza from scratch). I've tried both adding avocado before putting it in the oven and after, I like it either way - I guess it is just a preference.
