I think this one could actually be really good, it all depends man but I will give it the benift of the doubt.

I heard the remake will feature Chris Kattan and Justin Bieber as a spoof. LOL! Seriously, remakes can be ok as long as it does the things remakes are supposed to do: expand on the original concept, update the material for a more modern and bolder take, and...well, I forgot the last rule LOL! I have grown not to abhore remakes as much as I did. "I Spit on your Grave" and "The Fly" were remakes that were superior to the original films after all.

My big question would be "why"/ The first film was a classic with a good mix of action, human drama and great political satire ("I'd buy that for a dollar"). Peter Weller was great in the original, and the sequels were just awful. The idea of a remake is just another example of Hollywood running out of ideas. Thank goodness they are not remaking Blade Runner but instead are looking to make a sequel.

It might have more potential than the upcoming re-do of "Total Recall" but the question for both is: Why? Okay, it's about the money. But that doesn't always work. The recent "Fright Night" looked like a good idea but it -- what's the euphemism? -- underperformed. It makes sense to remake a movie that failed to realize its potential but "Robocop" stands up well. I might see it out of curiosity but the movie's makers probably don't care. I'm not it in the target demographic of kids who can't accept pre-CGI visual effects.
