What do you think of the proposal to have 15 teams on the AL and 15 on the NL rather than being the current way of three divisions per league? (Ref: http://www.jasonpye.com/2011/06/mlbs-new-playoff-proposal/)

Having the same number of teams in both leagues makes perfect sense. I also like the idea of having only the best teams in the playoffs, I REALLY dislike it when one division is very weak yet the winner gets in the playoffs over another that is clearly superior.

Not looking at 2011, but in recent years there have been some exciting divisional races and some good rivalries (Yankees/RedSox/Rays, Angels/A's. Phillies/Braves, Rockies/Diamondbacks come to mind) that would be lost if there weren't divisional winners. I like the idea of the 15 team leagues with equal number of teams in each division. But I like them to keep the current playoff format. (Without that format the 2006 World Champion Cards would not have qualified for post season).

Couldn't agree more! I think it would make perfect sense to have 15 each- it's not like it matters anyways, we all know that Giants are the best ;p

LOL, how true. :) The Reds game the other day was great to watch. The proposal would be like baseball leagues were back in the 1960s. That's how they did it then, from what I understand.

There should definately be an equal number of teams in each league. Having more teams in the National League actually put the NL at a disadvantage for the All-star game as managers are required to take a representitive from each team. That meant that there were more teams in the NL that could have had no real star and two less better players could not be selected. By having 15 teams, there would be one interleague series every day which would be better than the format they have now.
