War of the Worlds followed by E.T. was the best Scifi he did. My favorite Speilberg film was Scheindler's List followed closely by Saving Private Ryan.

Great. If I expanded to ALL Spielberg movies then it would be a tough call. War of the Worlds was good because of the characterization. The Martians being underground for thousands of years I don't know. Have to see it again.
You know Spielberg only really ever did one fantasy film, the critically panned Hook, and other than that he hasn't really explored the genre. Maybe Tintin will change that. : ) In terms of his science fiction films, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Jurassic Park are great films. I also really liked A.I. Artificial Intelligence despite its flaws (script needed to be revised, tonally it was uneven, and the actors were very much miscast).
I just made a Spielberg list of science fiction. http://lunch.com/t/6x0y He recently had his hand in producing the new release "Super 8". Be sure you check my list and write reviews of these great Spielberg films on The Forbidden Planet!
