A non-animated Archie series might be good.

Nope, American filmmakers should stay away from manga; let the Japanese do their own thing with them. As for other mediums....Preacher, "Chew", a legitimate version of HELLBLAZER by the UK and maybe Y and Platinum Grit.

Even though they have their own cartoon series and a few movies. But I would like to see The Transformers storyline The War Within adapted into a 13 episode TV series at least. It tells a very good tale on their origin before they take the war to Earth. Also, I've heard plenty of rumors, but I would like to see Akira in either a 13 or 26 episode series format. The movie did not do a good job fleshing out the story from the original source material. And finally, I would like to see Battle Angel in a 13 or 26 episode series format as well. The two episode OVA contained so much depth it's unreal.

Were it faithfully adapted by someone in possession of a legitimate cultural perspective and a functioning brain, Cerebus the Aardvark could be a great satirical epic, perhaps one better suited to televised serials than a feature film series. It oughtn't be entrusted to an American production, or anyone who hasn't Dave Sim's personal approval.

Someone like Nobuhiko Obayashi or Kiyoshi Kurosawa could probably accommodate Narumi Kakinouchi's Vampires Miyu and Yui manga to challenging pictures.
