What's the most you're willing to pay for a single issue contemporary comic book?

This is a tough question. I generally don't look at the price if it is a book that I want. They are quite expensive now with many over five dollars. The high price keeps down the number of comics I am willing to kick in for.

I will spend up to $5 on the Dark Horse Comics' renditions of Conan and Solomon Kane. They're faithful to Robert E. Howard and their books are approved by his estate. Great stories.

Sometimes I will spend more for a specialty book such as Action Comics 900. But overall, the $3.99 regular cover price for a story that is a continuation in a story arc is just a waste of money when one could just wait for the graphic novel to come out.

At the present, both DC and Marvel have cut their comics down from $3.99 to $2.99, DC more than Marvel.

You mean a classic comic? Tough question since my more expensive ones were hand me downs and/or inherited from my brother and his friend. It is tough to say, but if I had the money, I wouldn't mind paying a lot for Detective Comics with the first appearance of Bats. In my present state, I would say I would be willing to pay as much $ 200 for a rare golden age, $ 100 for a rare Silver age, and that is it. I don't like investing in comics. But I guess those would be the prices I would pay, the rest are not worth paying more than $ 25 for them. Someone wanted to buy THE WALKING DEAD # 1 for $ 400 and I advised against it...guess what, I was correct since they came out with multiple versions later.... new comics..I would pay half of the cover price.
