An open letter to Frank Miller...
We all know and love Frank Miller's early work from the '80s. However, it cannot be denied that there's a disturbing thread woven throughout all of his work. It's hard to overlook the blatant xenophobia, racism, homophobia, sexism, anti-capitalist, anti-religious, and pro-fascist beliefs that color much of his writing (The Dark Knight Returns, Sin City, 300, Holy Terror).
I'd like to use this forum to address this matter.
Thank you.

In his works, Miller has often portrayed women as mere sex objects (most of his female characters are either strippers, prostitutes, or adulterous femme fatales) and the men in his work are muscle-bound Übermenschen who use physical force and violence to overcome their problems.

His depictions of Africans, African-Americans, Persian, Muslims, Hindus, Italians, and other religious and ethnic groups has denigrated them as being either barbarians intent on conquering Western Civilization or terrorists intent on undermining the established order. He has even intentionally depicted physical deformation or affliction as being equitable with moral corruption or mental illness.

Many of Miller's characters enforce  conformity and simply kill those that they disagree with. Now Miller has caused another controversy with his outspoken and abusive rants regarding the Occupy Movement (those rants can be read on his site here). I've created this discussion forum in the hopes that people who may admire Miller's work (and those who may not) can take this time to express their feelings about his attitudes regarding race, gender, religion, and politics.
