Influential and Inspirational Writers

There are countless writers in graphic literature (comic books, graphic novels and manga) that have over the years helped to progress the graphic storytelling medium. Which writers do you admire and why?

Stan Lee. He turned around the whole genre. Lest we forget Julie Schwartz and Simon & Shuster.

I'm only familiar with Schwartz for his editing and not so much as a writer. My top 10 would be thus:
1. Denny O'Neil
2. Alan Moore
3. Stan Lee
4. Marv Wolfman
5. Will Eisner
6. Chris Claremont
7. Art Spiegelman
8. Bill Finger
9. Neil Gaiman
10. Jerry Siegel
(I couldn't stop at just 10)
11. Frank Miller
