Avengers Top Ten Villains- 2012's Avengers film Hype On!!

  • Nov 17, 2011
Inspired by @'s question, I thought since I am a comic book fan I should make a list of the Avengers Top 10 villains. Please keep in mind that I know Loki's threat formed the team, and that other universal threats such as Michael Korvac, the Unspoken, Proctor, The Kree race and the Beyonder  indeed pushed the Avengers to the limit. But this is a list that only includes the threats that always seem to return and haunt our heroes because they are more personal and at one time or another, formed an obsession in defeating Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

DC fans always try to convince themselves that Darkseid (DC's answer to Thanos) is worst and more terrible than this Titan-born eternal, which I believe is an uneducated and unfair proclamation. Thanos is in love with death and has murdered half the population in the universe to sacrifice to his lover Death; he is more than willing to commit genocide to appease his lover. He came very close to destroying the universe, and only by his own missteps can he be defeated.
Powers: superhuman strength and durability (he can easily take down both The Hulk and Drax the Destroyer at the same time). Energy manipulation, scientific and mystical knowledge and various weaponry.
Threat Level: 10/10

The murderous near-indestructible automaton that made the extermination of humanity its prime directive. Created by Henry Pym and based on his brain patterns, this machine has reached sentience. Ultron always strikes closer to home as a representation of the evil side of technology. Smarter than any human scientist and without conscience, Ultron was responsible for the murder of an entire country (the fictional country of Slorenia).
Powers: Body is composed of adamantium. Incredible strength and firepower.
Threat Level: 9/10

The Skrull Race
Ever since the Kree-Skrull war, this alien race led by the Skrull Queen have sought the domination of the human race. Their threat has escalated to levels unimaginable when they infiltrated the ranks of the Avengers and the superhuman community through their shape-changing abilities and power enhancements.
Powers: Variable, Armada level weaponry
Threat Level: 9/10

Another persona of Kang. The master of time and limbo. He believes that he is actually safeguarding the time stream from the Avengers. An unknown oddity that sometimes is an ally but then becomes a major threat to the Avengers.
Powers: Manipulation of time and limbo. Various weaponry.
Threat Level 8/10
Masters of Evil
Founded by Baron Zemo, foe of Captain America, to oppose the Avengers. There are other incarnations of this team such as the one assembled by Egghead. But their threat has never been greater than the one put together by Zemo's son.
Powers: Variable
Threat Level: 8/10

Called one of the deadliest enemies of the Avengers, he held 10 members at bay including Wonder Man, Thor, The Vision and Iron Man! Graviton has the power to control the Earth and gravity. His defeats are only due to his overconfidence and inexperience. Oh, he also has a weakness for beautiful women…
Powers: Energy and Matter manipulation
Threat Level: 8/10

The Collector
An elder god obsessed with the collection and recording of near-extinct alien races and of things that made an impact in history. He wants to collect the Avengers alongside his collection of planets in a pocket universe.
Powers: Energy and Matter manipulation. Scientific knowledge
Threat Level: 7/10
Count Nefaria
A nobleman and a known figure of the Maggia crime family. He has first gained powers derived from the Living Laser, Power Man and Whirlwind magnified a thousand fold that only THOR could withstand him. But now, he has become an ionic furnace with powers that made him several times stronger than Wonder Man and Atlas (Erik Josten). His threat is more built around his own ego and search for power.
Powers: Extreme durability and Super-strength. Energy manipulation.
Threat Level: 7/10

The presentation has a great list of villains.

Very good. I love Ultron, Kang, and Thanos especially. Do wish they'd change Thanos' outfit though. LOL!
November 23, 2011
well.....you do know that Thanos' outfit reflects the style of the ancient Eternals (servants of the Celestials) who had visited Earth before and have made human beings into slaves and deviants into sexual companions...? This was revealed in the 2000's under the MAX label. But yeah, I see your point. You think that's bad, look at Nefaria's "N" on his belt, I guess fashion sense is the least in villains' mind LOL!

Ultron is muh boy!
November 23, 2011
heck yeah!
November 22, 2011
good i feel like such a noob. Ive havent heard of most of these guys.
November 22, 2011
Heh. I guess that is why the movie is probably going to adapt The Ultimates and have Loki as one of the main villains....
November 21, 2011
Wow, my comic knowledge is slipping as I haven't heard of half of these villians. I guess Galactus didn't rate. Didn't realize that the Skrulls ever battled anyone but the FF.
November 21, 2011
I figured Galactus was more of a villain of the FF and the times when the Avengers took him on was also with the FF. The Avengers took on the Skrulls quite often, they had a very active role in the Kree-Skrull war, the daughter of Thanos-Skrull crisis and they were invaded from within during the Secret Invasion.
