In an era of thick rope chains and the crack and cocaine boom, De La Soul's sound was a breath of fresh air. Wearing crazy colors and africa pendants instead of gold they were the hippies of hip hop in the 80's. Their album 3 feet high and rising is still consider a classic among hip hop heads all over the world. Nothing captured this vibe better than their hit Me Myself and I. If you ever get the chance to see De La live jump at it. They are STILL one of the most energetic and entertaining groups around as you could have viewed on VH1's hip hop honors.
