Hugo Weaving is an Australian native and was born on April 4th 1960. He is a stage, film and voice actor. Weaving is best known for his roles in
The Matrix Trilogy, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and as V in
V for Vendetta. He is also the voice of Megatron in both
Transformers and
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
In 1981, Weaving graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Australia. Weaving really gained international stardom when he got his role as Agent Smith in
The Matrix in 1999, a role he would reprise in the two sequels to the film. He later was cast as the Elven King, Elrond in Peter Jackson's
Lord of the Rings Trilogy. IN 2006, he played the title role of V in
V for Vendetta. For 2007's
Transformers film and its sequel,
Revenge of the Fallen, he lent his vocal cords as the new voice of the leader of the Decepticons, Megatron.
Besides acting in well known films, Weaving has a habit of going from large scale roles to Australian indie roles as well as many stage productions along side
Cate Blanchett.
