Kermit's awesome - what is he thinking with Miss Piggy?

He's a frog and she's a pig. That just makes no sense, but that's not why I like Kermit. Kermit is the straight "guy" in nearly every muppet thing, but he's awesome. Funny in a straight guy way. But he's in love with an egocentric female pig? How does that make any sense at all?
