The Damned was part of the "Class of 1976" during the UK Punk movement that spawned The Sex Pistols, The Clash and The Buzzcocks. Whilst the other bands have reformed and regrouped over the years, The Damned is still out there performing in clubs and small venues occasionally releasing new material. The only original members left are David Vanian (Vocals) and Captain Sensible (Guitar) but the new players Pinch (Drums), Stu West (Bass) and Monty the Oxymoron (keyboards) breath new life into the band. Check out their latest release "So Who's Paranoid"!
I saw them live a few years ago and they put on an awesome show. The club was packed and the
crowd was lively. Many people who were in the crowd were a collection of old punks, goths, skaters and younger punk rock fans. They put on a 2 hour show making everyone happy. If you hear them on CD, on the web or live The Damned will always put on an entertaining show.
Factoid:
Lemmy of Motorhead was a Bass Player for The Damned when they reunited after they broke up 1978. In need of a Bassist and performing as The Doomed Lemmy filled in until they hired Henry Badowski. Lemmy is still a good friend of the band.
