The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a band that I've always liked, but I became much more impressed with them after hearing It's Blitz! Rather than continue on their alternative rock path, they opted to take a different route. Their origins can still be heard in the songs, but the album is filled with keyboards, electronics, and synthesized strings. It's not a drastic change; for some reason it seems like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs were meant to make this album. Many of the songs carry a danceable rhythm, especially "Heads Will Roll" with its disco meets alternative pop beat. There are also softer songs that really bring Karen O into the spotlight. Karen O has always had a beautiful singing voice, but much of the band's earlier work focused on her raw energy and sexually charged singing. With this album, there's a certain vulnerability in Karen O's voice that helps carry the quieter songs. From start to finish this is a strong album and one that the band needed to make. Their catalogue was impressive up to this point, but I feel It's Blitz! really puts them in the discussion of the best bands out there today.

Hey Anthony - I'm glad that you made it over. I didn't even realize you had joined until seeing your name which looked familiar! You'll love it here, as I'm sure you already noticed you can share more than just gaming reviews. Please let me know if you have any questions - I'm happy to help, more excited you've made it!

Definitely give it a listen if you have the chance. And if you don't mind let me know how that concert is when it comes around, they're a band I'd love to see live at some point.

I will check it out! I actually saw the YYYs in '03 and Karen O was one of the best performers I'd ever seen. She was wearing this amazing lime green superhero type costume and really knows how to hype up the crowd. Hope she can still deliver this time and will let you know how it goes!
