Sorry Led Zeppelin just does not do it for me. And this third release by the band is certainly not comparable to their best material. I give them credit for trying to explore their acoustic side. However, too many of the songs have either unmemorable melodies or are just plain annoying.

Out of the ten songs on this recording, I genuinely like three may be four of them. Surprisingly my fave is the longest one Since I've Been Loving You. The guitar riffs are very captivating and the organ touches are beautiful. Robert Plant's vocalizing even sounds pretty good and I am usually not much for his shrieking. Celebration Day and Bron Y Aur Stomp are also very distinguishable. The later tune has a nice coffee house feel. Immigrant Song is OK in spite of Plant's shrieks.

The rest of the tracks are a bit toothless. Four listens in and my memories of Tangerine and That's The Way are feint. They have some nice acoustic touches but the melodies are weak. Hats Off To Roy Harper is totally atonal. Out of Tiles is just plain grating as is Gallows Pole although that one at least has a melody. Friends at the moment falls into the forgettable tune category.

Therefore two and half stars seems about right. Decent effort weak execution.
