Alison Krauss and Union Station are back with a great new album entitled “Paper Airplane”. Alison’s vocals are beautiful on the title track. This is a song about what it feels like to be lonely. The guitar playing is so good. Every chord of the guitar is so pretty. Dan Tyminski is a member of the Union Station. He sings excellent vocals on different songs on this record. He sings vocals on the track “Dustbowl Children”. This song is about living in poverty during the Great Depression. The banjo playing by Ron Block is superb on this tune. Dan also sings vocals on this song “Bonita and Bill Butler”. This song is about the immigrant experience about adjusting life to America. This is such a great story song. I love the fiddle playing on this song very much. “Miles to Go” is a song about how certain lessons in life can be difficult to learn. This tone of this song fills me with hope. “Lay My Burden Down” is a track that I love because of the musical arrangements. The mandolin playing by Tyminski gives this tune a very soothing tone. I like this song a lot. “Sinking Stone” is a song about a relationship that did not work out. This song has moving lyrics. “Dimming of The Day” sounds almost angelic. This is the kind of song that completely relaxes me. “My Love Follows You Where You Go” is a love song. I like Alison’s spirited vocals on this song. “Opening Farewell” is a song about saying goodbye to someone. There is a hint of sadness in this song that makes it beautiful to me. Jackson Browne originally sang this song, but Alison takes this song and makes it her own. This is a very pleasant song to listen to. “Lie Awake” is a song about feeling unsettled in life. I can relate to the words in this song. Barry Bales contributes his talents playing the bass on this track. He gives this song a subtle pleasant tone with his instrument. This is excellent new blue grass music from Alison and Union Station.
