Urlacher may be getting a raw deal from NFL pundits. The guy entered the NFL as a "utility" defender from a lower-tiered college, and set the NFL afire when he arrived.
100+ tackles in each of his first 4 seasons, before having an injury-shortened fifth season. And he was well on his way to another huge season that year. He's only had less than 100 tackles this past season and that was to be expected, with Lance Briggs again contributing big-time, and the defense, in general, not playing as well.
The guy has been a model of consistency, as depicted above, and aside from his one 9-game season, has played in all 16 games for every season of his career.
The Bears are going to be an improved team next season and Urlacher will once again anchor the defense. Look for the Bears to make improvements on the defensive side in the draft, too.
