An Irish-American Celtic punk band from Los Angeles, California
Flogging Molly is a seven-piece Irish-American Celtic punk band from Los Angeles, California that is currently signed to their own record label, Borstal Beat Records.
Flogging Molly (PCM Interview) and all their celtic punk glory put on a incredible sold-out show at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia. This is a band that knows how to put on a show and keep the fans entertained, on their feet, and crazy thoughout their entire set. Irish pride definitely overtook the venue and the crowd was a sea of green, with more than a few sporting "Paddy's Irish Bar" t-shirts (a small homage to the hit show It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia") and of course there was lots and lots of beer! Flogging Molly knows precisely how to have a great time and they without a doubt owned the stage.
The band's set consisted of a incredible mix of new songs, old favorites, with an acoustic set thrown in the middle for good measure. The energy that exudes off of this band is contagious and the venue was consumed by swirling mosh pits, crowd surfing, and fist pumping high in the air.The band played all of my personal fav's such as "Drunken Lullabies", "Rebels of the Sacred Heart", and "The Worst Day Since Yesterday", but I was plesantly surprised by how much I enjoyed a few of the newer and acoustic songs like " So Sail On" and the show opener "Speed of Darkness". A highlight of the set came when the band broke into "Devil's Dance Floor" during which the crowd erupted into dancing and swaying along with band who were speeding around the stage like whirling dervishs the entire song.
I can not even begin to describe just how fun this band is to watch live, you can't help but move your feet along with their rousing melodies and Irish infused punk rock rhythms. When you throw in lead vocalist Dave King's witty banter with the crowd, a Flogging Molly performance will be one that sticks in your mind for quite some time.
