My first intro to this Aussie beer in an"oil can" was when I was a new 2nd Lieutenant in the army. I was blown away by the size when I saw it in the "class 6" store in 1980. Lots of beer in a can, I was blown away by the size. The taste is great. However, consider the fact that my favorite beer is free beer, and my all time favorite beer is, cold free beer!!!
Actual Australian Foster's is a fairly decent beer, but hasn't been imported to the US for 20-odd years. If you read the details of manufacture on the label (definitely in small-print), you'll discover that this "Australian Famous Beer" is made in Canada by Carling Inc, and as such it bears only a slight resemblance to the original.
The first time i tasted Foster's was with a group of Australian tourists in Europe and it was one of the worst beers i have ever tasted. Even worse was that the beer was on tap and I have almost never had a bad tasting draught beer.
