6 Killer Bodies (ZOMBIES! No, just kidding)

Pros: Drama! Suspense! Subplots take a giant leap forward!

Cons: The whodunit reveal.  Boo.

The Bottom Line: Everyone pretty much hits rock bottom and everyone that's left is apparently crazy. Bummer.

A few years ago I got a signed copy of Body Movers and had a little chat with Ms. Bond herself.  The chat was enlightening and it's nice having a signed copy on hand, but I almost feel embarrassed to admit that I was not a biggest fan of the book.  Still, Ms. Bond gets credit because I kept reading.  Though I had major issues with Carlotta, the main character, I hung in there because the subplots were intriguing and I adored the three men that hung around Carlotta like bears to a tub of honey.  Now I'm at the end and I have to wait until whoever is working on the potential TV show of this series gets their work done and Ms. Bond is given the okay to release the next two books.

But in case you haven't already figured it out (and the number in the book's title ought to at least give it away), you need to go back and start from the beginning to know at least half the stuff that goes down in this book.

When we left off last time, Wesley was in deep doo-doo, Carlotta saw a good friend get arrested as the Charmed Killer, and pretty much everything else in her life was totally going down the drain.  Jack can't commit (except maybe to his smokin' hot partner), Peter has, um, a little problem, and everyone around Carlotta starts to doubt her conviction that the Charmed Killer is still out there.  There are only a few ways to prove it; Carlotta has to dig up the right evidence or the killer has to strike again.  Better hurry...

Because Carlotta isn't worrying 24/7 about money (like in the first several books), she has fewer stupid decisions to make.  Wesley is off doing his own thing and screwing up royally to the point that I do believe he's finally realizing how jacked up his life is getting (hooray, finally).  While it is still a bit annoying to listen to Carlotta see-saw about her feelings for Peter and how unavailable-ish Jack is, you kind of get used to it.

I do have to say though, I think Carlotta should meet Stephanie Plum, because dang if Carlotta isn't afraid to use a stun baton.  On everybody.  Haha!  Points to her for that.  Though sometimes I do think that things tend to fall into Carlotta's lap a bit too easily, I'm kind of okay with it this time.  Eh, it worked.

As for the Charmed Killer?  *sigh*  First of all, I'm tired of insanity being a cause for killing.  It's a cheap cop out in my opinion.  I mean that makes two killers in 6 books crazy.  I'm not impressed.  Especially when I found out who the killer was.  Frankly if this had been a movie, I would have booed and thrown popcorn at the screen.  Yeah, it doesn't sound promising I know, but at the very least things end with an interesting twist, and as usual it all comes back to the subplot (or maybe it should be considered the main plot and all these mysteries subplots...but it's all semantics I guess).

Anyway, in the end, will I keep reading?  I like the boys.  I like the subplots.  So if it doesn't take too long for books 7 and 8 to come out, yes, I will read them.  However, it's already been a year (bummer for her fans), so if it takes another year or longer for them to appear, there's a good chance I will have forgotten about this series and end up reading other, more rewarding books.
