Just Being Fair!

I am putting my neck on the line by going against thegeneralconsensus here. I liked alot of the book. Especially thelawyer. But I cannot say it is one of the greatest books I have ever read. It is not even the best Grisham (I like The Client the best). The courtroom dialog was great and the tension was great. What kept me from giving the book higher marks was that I cannot condone what the father did, since he shot the innocent police officer. I found how Grisham downplayed the shooting of … more

Well as usual the book is WAY better than the movie. Looks likes this one is Grisham's first novel and I see why people fell in love with him so fast! I've seen the movie and there are some pretty glaring differences but that just makes the book even better. I find out that one of Samuel Jackson's most famous lines isn't even in the book.... Very Captivating

This is a well told story with a solid plot and some captivating subplots. The descriptions of the emotions of Carl Halley and the events that surround him are told in a manner as if you were experiencing each action. One misguided critic here felt that this story is merely an insult to one's intelligence. I say to him,"Just what would you do if it was your daughter who was raped?"
