A book by Nicholas Sparks

In the prologue to his latest novel, Nicholas Sparks makes the rather presumptuous pledge "first you will smile, and then you will cry," but sure enough, he delivers the goods. With his calculated ability to throw your heart around … see full wiki

I might never have read this book if not for the movie, by the same name. I was enamored by the movie, enough to want to read the book. As happens almost all the time, there were really big differences between the book and the movie, and I can't say I am happy about that.       I think...    Landon Carter is a typical high school student, with scant interest in his academics. His father is a Congressman, whose family has a long history with Reverend Sullivan, …

As with what the other reviewer said, this book lacks in some areas. However, I believe it excels at most.      One thing to remember about this book is the time frame in which the movie (if you've seen it) and the book were set. The movie was set in modern day, while the book was set in the 50s. The latter alone is what makes this book truly stand out.      A Walk To Remember is a love story complicated by life, and though the characters are both polar …

Pros: A shred of hope, a hint of tears, the joy of laughter, the pain of goodbye     Cons: none - well, perhaps too short ....... you want MORE     Several months ago a few people suggested I read a book by Nicholas Sparks titled The Notebook, but being the bull-headed person I am, it took me forever to finally purchase a copy and sit down and enjoy it. The same evening I bought my copy of The Notebook, by a fluke, a girl that I work with purchased a copy …

If you cried when you read "Love Story" or saw the film, this too will bring tears to your eyes. The author takes you to that small town in South Carolina in the late 50s. You can almost see the leaves falling off the trees. A truly remarkable story about young first love that is so innocent and sweet it is almost syrupy. This is a book that young Christian adults can read as even though it is a love story it is definitely G-rated. If you are looking for something racy, then this is not it. But …

I don't like feeling manipulated. Shallow emotions are trite. Formulas in any form of the arts put fences around responses and feelings. And having protested that much in the opening pages of this little book I sought to prove my point by dissecting what was promising to be a corny tear-jerker for mass consumption. Wrong!"A Walk to Remember" is ..... special. This is a simple story that for all it's predictable twists and turns keeps you so involved with the characters that I would be surprised …
