Sloppy writing holds back what could have been the most interesting take on the Dark Knight.

Bruce Wayne along with his date Vicki Vale attends a circus show with the High Flying Graysons as part of the act. When the show is over, twelve year old Dick Grayson witnesses his parents brutal murder. The boy is then taken into crooked police custody and is saved by Batman. A Quick Tip by Madpenguin

Miller continued his downward spiral here, and it's a shame too because the story had great potential. We get a totally different Batman that's pretty much everything he never wanted to be. The story is hampered by poor dialog, awful characterization, redundancy, and filler. Such a waste of Jim Lee's kick ass artwork.
