Accessibility, clarity and usefulness are the hallmarks of this excellent guide to developmental, neurological and psychological disorders. It is written from the parent's perspective: what do you need to know when addressing the often bewildering disorders that affect your children. The syndromes and disorders are presented in alphabetical order for ease of access. This book presents an alphabetical list of disorders and conditions diagnosed in childhood, using acronyms for all of them, even ones that I've never seen referred to by professionals with the acronym. This text gives an initial "case history" to offer the reader a sense of how the condition would appear in a real life example. Then some specific diagnostic descriptions are offered, with information about what is believed to cause the disorder and how it might be treated. It wasn't clear to me what …

Alphabet Kids lives up to its promise. It delivers an easily digestible book on the most common and some highly uncommon childhood developmental disorders.    While the material itself can be found in any diagnostic manual, Mr. Woliver does a marvelous job of introducing each condition with at least one anecdotal account of or from a person afflicted by the disease.
