This is the beginning of an absolutely delightful series of books following the adventures of Anne. I have been reading these books for years now (at least forty five) and they have lost none of their delight and charm. I have absolutely nothing against the recent T.V. Series (or is it so recent?), and enjoyed every episode. But having read the books first, the movies were just frosting on the cake for me. I have just finished reading this book aloud to my 8 year old (who is well capable of reading it herself) so that we could enjoy the book together. What can I say? It is one of the most delightful books in the world, meant to be shared and cherished, and above all remembered and recommended to others. If you have a little girl in your life, introduce her to this book. She will always thank you.
