This is a novel that deals with important issues such as friendship, loyalty, integrity and justice.

Attorney Jay Cassio's friend, Dan, is murdered in Florida. It looks like a professional hit.

Dan was not only Jay's friend but protector. They grew up in the mean streets of Newark, New Jersey during the late 1960's. This was a time of racial tensions and the burning of Newark.

Jay decides to travel to Florida and find out why Dan was killed and to punish his killer.

In their last meeting, Dan had told Jay that he was contacted by a woman named Donna Kelly. Kelly was referred to Dan by one of Jay's clients, Bryce Powers. Now Bryce and Bryce's wife have been found dead in what police say is a murder-suicide. Donna told Dan that she would pay him if he brought some money that she had been holding for Bryce. The total of the money was $500,000.

There is a parallel story taking place in Mexico City when a beautiful girl named Isabel is placed in a convent in 1977. In 1991 she is now a lovely woman and the man who had come to see her periodically who she referred to as Uncle Herman, takes her out of the convent. He wants her to work for him and use her body to get advantage of business contacts.

Jay is warned against looking into Bryce's death but he continues. He sees that Bryce has had dealings with a Herman and Lazaro Santaria in Mexico. Then he learns that Lazaro is now the attorney general in Mexico.  With this information, Jay sets out to Florida with his friend, Frank Dunn, a recently retired police officer.

The tension mounts as two Mexican gunmen are seen looking for Isabel (Donna Kelly) and now they are looking for Jay. Isabel is on her own but has enough information about the Santeria's that they want her dead.

There is plenty of action and the characters are sympathetic and very well described. It is as if Jay and Isabel are two innocents and the reader becomes very interested to see if they will escape the killers and to see if Jay and Isabel will find each other.

Thanks Paul. The author did a nice job and it's good to see a small press company do something for an author. Mike
