The pace is on the slower side but the characters are likeable and the ending is fantastic.

I picked this one up because of the recently done TV movie which I enjoyed immensely. (I tend to like Westerns in films way more than in print.) To my surprise the book, though a little less tightly structured in terms of plot, was every bit as good as the film it inspired.    This is a moving tale of an aging cowboy and his estranged nephew as the old man attempts to do right by his sister's son who has essentially been disinherited by his dying mother.
