CHEEVER Is An Incredible Look At a Brilliant, Yet Troubled Individual

Blake Bailey's extensive research and care in pieces together the life and career of CHEEVER is both incredible and troubling at the same time. You have an individual who has experienced great success, yet finds themselves fighting a war with his desires and lifestyle tht is all-to-familiar to readers and those we know. But Cheever's challenges are not just sexual. They involve his very existance in the public eye, the success he has achieved and where he finds himself in the world that is forever changing.

In my interview with Bailey, I asked him what was it like to chroncile the life of a fellow author so closely and intimately, knowing that one day someone might do the same to him. He said it was humbling, and I must add that it is also a great compliment.

We won't find a book as comprehensive and engaging about Cheever as this one, and for that the author deserves not only praise but the reward of having his work shared with others.
