Dylan writes like he talks like he sings--strong words, none wasted, some common-sense, some other-worldly.    This not-quite memoir meanders from his first days in New York to a glimpse of the mature songwriter in New Orleans working on "Oh Mercy", back to his Minnesota days starting in folk music, and back to New York in his early days getting on and learning songwriting. What a gift! Dylan's "Chronicles" gives us fascinating insight into the mind of the twentienth century's greatest songwriter. (Of, course he's a gifted and innovative artist, too, and all the revelations from "The Bard of Hibbing" are a real treat.)     His autobiographical memoir mainly focuses on key portions of his life.
