I don't know... reading Goodkind is like watching a movie wherein all key objects are overly characterized and expressions glow so as to make every emotion quite obvious. He seems to be satirizing the genre. If so, he's doing a wonderful job!

It's difficult to say whether "Chainfire" is the opening book in a trilogy or the ninth book in the now aging "Sword of Truth" series.
