In "Cop Town" the story is about a new police officer in Atlanta.
Kate Murphy is a new police officer but doesn't disclose her Jewish background or family wealth. She joins a department run by men who have their own opinions and methods of doing business.
On her first day she immediately goes through a sexual harassment situation as the other cops discuss her body and say things that would reduce many young women to tears.
Someone is killing cops and the station is filled with tension. Kate is partnered with Maggie Lawson, the younger sister of another Atlanta cop, Jimmy.
They do their normal rounds and see Jimmy talking to a snitch. He orders them away so he won't give his snitch too much notice.
Another cop is killed, murdered in a gruesome way. It was Jimmy's partner. Jimmy tried to get him to the hospital but the man was too badly wounded.
The action continues with a number of good twists and surprises. Both Kate and Maggie are brave cops who have interesting pasts and are characters who the reader can sympathise with and are people we want to know more about.
I enjoyed the book very much and hope there is a sequel.
