Det. Matt Brady is attempting to solve what is behind the disappearance of seven attractive women in Temple, Texas.
He's frustrated because every time he gets a lead, it seems as if someone beats him to it. As the story continues, we view the kidnapping of three of the women. The kidnappers are adept at their jobs and while the reader wants to shout WATCH OUT!, the women are caught, tied up and thrown into the back of a van.
One of the victims was a veterinarian assistant and Matt questions her boss about the woman's habits and to see if she had any enemies. He didn't get anything he could use but the head of the animal clinic, Tracy Rogers wants to help. At the start, she wants to help because the latest victim worked for her but also, Tracy was attracted to Matt.
Tracy's involvement and Matt's interest in Tracy upsets someone involved in the kidnapping and both Matt and Tracy become targets for an out of town hit man.
I consider "Cornered" to be one of the top 4 or 5 books I've read this year. I'm very impressed with the author's storytelling ability.
I wished for an electrifying conclusion and while the conclusion was most satisfactory, I was expecting greatness from this awesome author.
4 1/2 stars.
I received this book in return for an honest review.
