Sometimes it isn't the criminal things that are difficult to confess to, it's the shameful.
The action takes place in Atlanta, Georgia in 1975-76. Two female police officers are trying to do their jobs in the midst of the ridicule they take from the male counterparts.       Amanda Wagner and her partner Evelyn Mitchell become partners and even though they are warned off the case by two homicide detectives, they continue. Since the setting of this novel is 1974-75, before reading, check into the history of the Atlanta Olympics.  Since some of this novel talks of the city buying land for the Olympic setting, that would give you useful knowledge and a bit of background.
